Racial Discrimination in the Context of Forced Displacement
Keywords:
Racial Discrimination, Forced DisplacementAbstract
The recent racial segregation and xenophobic attacks on people seeking safety and protection from armed conflict and inhumane economic conditions have brought to the fore the need for revitalizing legal and ethical principles that undergird the dignity of the human person. Drawing from the 1965 International UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination and Ecumenical Christian teachings against racism, this article seeks to reclaim the dignity of the forcibly displaced and their right to seek asylum anywhere without being discriminated against on the bases of gender, race, religion, nationality, or the colour of their skin.
