There are basically two models of doing theology. In the first case, one formulates a series of abstract and impersonal truths about
God, trying to express the Mystery of his Revelation with the help of a-contextualized, un-connected, and detached concepts. This way
was practiced for (too) many centuries as the standard way of doing theology in the Western cultural realm and still can work well even today, (to put it ironically) as a pastime during long and uneventful evenings, in the absence of any other thing to do. The other way, however, is diametrically opposed to the aforementioned: it is engaging, existential, and filled with life! Further characteristics of this second kind of ‘theologizing’ is that it doesn’t let one in peace: it demands an immediate response, prompts action, provokes thoughts and emotions, and ultimately touches and moves you. One will not stay the same after reading such theology. The new book of Fr. Marcel Uwineza belongs to this second category.
