Christian Praxis and Political Involvement
Keywords:
Church, Politics, Praxis, InvolvementAbstract
Argued by Karol Wojtyla (John Paul II), “every person is born into the world to bear witness to the truth according to his or her own particular vocation”. The events of elections riggings, corruption, genocides, civil wars, acts of terrorisms, and the general neglect of the public sphere by governments, manifest serious trends on how the people of God are deprived of their rights and the truth, the truth which affects their inmost being and their sphere of principles and relationship with God. Good politics and governance for the kingdom of God calls for what Kroger calls “prophetic annunciation of the good news of the Kingdom of God and a critical denunciation of every dehumanizing social condition”. Secondly, we need to affirm that our God is a God of life, the One who makes life worth living, and who calls us to respond by making life worth living.
