Abstract

The book – Reinventing theology in Post-Genocide Rwanda: Challenges and Hopes – proceeds from an international and interdisciplinary conference held in Kigali between June 20–22, 2019. With 21 other authors, the book’s editors testify to a history of almighty grace amidst unlimited ills and appeal to readers to become “the wood that unites” and agents of reconciliation who remember morally. The story of the uniting wood, drawn from racial reconstruction in the US, echoes the plea of the authors: to journey with those left behind by the Rwandan tragedy and to practice the faith as a prophetic witness to truth and justice. In 24 well-searched and written chapters, the book responds to the leading question: “How can we celebrate Mass anew in Rwanda?” And for holistic responses, the book addresses this preoccupation from historical, theological, ethical, and testimonial perspectives,
establishing principles of Post-Genocide theology for the renaissance of Africa. e current review is deliberately expository.
