AESTHETIC DIMENSION OF SIN: AN AFRICAN EXPERIENCE

This article seeks to demonstrate that sin has disfigured Africa and its setting. The author approaches the concept of sin from a theological perspective that regards it as an option for a person to turn away from God. The article holds that beauty is a transcendental reality from God, explains the aesthetic dimension of sin from the perspective of St. Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises, and gives some experiences of contemptible situations in Africa. The article suggests that Africans need to self-examine and search for divine goodness for the beauty of Africa to manifest fully.
