Abstract

Should the African society not become concerned that many urban African families are today so exposed to the media (television, computers, music/film industries and advertising) that they are losing some of their vital cultural values? It would be naïve for any African to simply consider television (TV) and other modern entertainment forms (movies, magazines, the Internet, etc) as harmless fun. Worse than naiveté is to regard all the activities of the media in Africa today as simply fostering development and helping African culture undergo necessary and useful changes for a global age of technology...
