Abstract

n Rwanda, the current situation of division, rightly qualified as sinful, stems from the breakup of a social union that was realized and protected by the ancestral cult. At the heart of traditional religion. By integrating some elements of this cult, the Eucharistic Commun-ion could engage people in a threefold conversion: intellectual, moral and religious. Six different areas will be affected: the personal, affective, intellectual, moral, socio-political and religious dimensions of life will all be touched. The combination of the ancestral celebration and of the Eucharistic communion would be both prophetic and pedagogical. As a prophetic celebration, it would challenge an established culture of evil and strengthen Christian faith and hope in salvation to people caught up in a silent despair. As a pedagogical celebration, it anticipates reconciliation and would teach people reconciliation, by using and transcending the categories of their culture.
