There is a certain restless ambiguity that accompanies the question the future of religious life. In the radically accelerated pace of global social change, and in the midst of appalling sufferings of apparently apocalyptic proportions, certain expressions of Christian life, particularly t historic institutions of religious life, have been seriously challenged. some cases, these are judged irrelevant and outdated.
