Globalization and socio-cultural mutations: A black African perspective.
Keywords:
Economic, poverty, Globalization, progress, developmentAbstract
What is at stake in the advent of the global order, especially for Africa where impoverishment is said to be not only material (economic) but also “anthropological” (cultural)? In other words, should Africans sing the praises of the ‘gods’ of Globalization which, having conquered their markets, are invading their hearts and minds? Focusing especially on the cultural stakes of Globalization for the poor in Africa, we will try to have a critical look at the claims, illusions and challenges of this phenomenon. Our perspective is that of black Africa, a perspective informed by the cry of the poor yearning for justice in a heartless world.
