Abstract

Writing about pain is not only a sensitive but also a hard subject “because of its paradoxical effects of aversion and fascination.” Although the issue of pain is multifaceted, Kirstin Swenson grapples it with a focus on physical pain in general, and more especially on chronic pain, not without acknowledging that “pain is incredibly complicated and its management at least equally so”.
