Ethnicity , Conflict , and the Future of African States

Abstract

This volume emerged out of a symposium organized by Hekima College’s Institute of Peace and International relations in December 2007. The theme of the symposium was “Ethnicity, Conflict and the Future of African States.” This symposium ran in the midst of the shocking horrors of the Post-election violence as Kenyans rose against other Kenyans in a vicious orgy of ethnic killings. The ethnic chasms that this violence laid bare were a reflection of the fragility and hollowness of our identity as Kenyan citizens.
