Abstract

The present-day situation of the African continent is devastated by socio-political-economic problems that are linked to religious and social dimensions of life. In the midst of an all pervading despair, where lie the hope and optimism which the gospel brings, how is “theology” good news for Africa? How can African Theology help to resolve African problems? To cut the root of these political misunderstandings and poverty greater attention should be given to the African Theology (Christianity) as means to solve African problems. Thus the retrieval and modernization of our African cultural matrix is the necessary route toward healing the political, economical, social and religious misery of Africa. In this sense, human liberation and development require today shared commitment of members of all the religious, political, economic and social traditions. Hence an open and constructive theology of peace and development is a pressing need to foster peace, and development.
