Abstract

Entering religious life makes a person shift towards integrating a set of values that appraise poverty. The changes bring about gradual tensions due to the contrasting with the values promoted outside religious life. The paper discusses different values associated with poverty from the religious and non-religious
perspectives. It evaluates the practicability and relevance of religious poverty in the contemporary world.
