Abstract

Christian theology can be understood as the attempt to understand reality through the symbols of the Christian faith and the meaning of these symbols themselves in the same process. Human existence is one element of the reality that theology has tried to understand since its beginning. This has been done mostly through a critical consideration of the foundational revelatory experience of creation and salvation as well as of sin and grace. Among these experiences, sin has been at the center of many controversies and has become the object of a continuous deepening. Within that trend, we can speak of a theology of original sin. In this paper, we would like to consider the question of the appropriate method and sources for such a theology today. We believe that a good theology faithful to sources, coherent and empowering lies in the reliability of its method and sources. So, what are the appropriate method and sources
for the theology of original sin? To answer the question, we will question the data of doctrine, the problem of their interpretation and its proper content on the personal as well as on the social level.
