This article reflects on the phenomenon of consumerism in the modern world. It explores the social, spiritual and anthropological dynamics underlying the unquenchable thirst for ‘more’. The essay also discusses the place of the Crucified Christ in consumerist societies. In fact, the Crucified Christ is presented as a counter-cultural witness to the unending quest for more material goods.
