A mother doubly looks at her daughter 

Secretly and clandestinely she studies her 

Eyes are sacred windows to the cosmos of memories

The sight of her smiling face evokes the past

A forgotten moment rendered dull by history’s rust

Yet rendered present by intractable existential artefacts
