What is the eternal law, and how does it affect religion? Religion is a human institution that exists in society. It is a way of life which is built upon culture and resides deeply in the psyches of individuals and communities. Whether it is seen as a belief in a super-empirical being or a body of people guided by a specific moral code towards certain goals, religion does have a powerful influence on society. Experience shows that religion has the potential to unite and develop society, as well as the tendency to disunite and destabilise it. Either of these has consequences for our human condition. The desire to address these challenges is the reason for writing this article. This paper shall critique the concept of the eternal law and its implications on religion.
