Abstract

Ethical Approaches to Population and Conflict with Special Reference to Islam is a collection of essays presented at the Second Colloquium on population organised by the International Population Concerns (IPC) Network. The colloquium took place in Cairo in 2003. The book is especially interesting for its variety of both approaches and contextual analyses. The contrast is constantly made between developing countries and the developed world. Further, the assessment of economic and demographic problems is made in the light of ethical, religious and global factors. Twenty essays in all, including six case studies, tackle the issue from different perspectives. The editor arranges them into three chief sections.
