Aspects of Spirituality

ReviewAbstract
What is spirituality, really? Too often this subject sends us to old ways that led some men and women to sanctity. And, explained in a rather repugnant vocabulary, most often these ways sound impossible to follow in our days: asceticism, mortification, self-transcendence, self-denial, and the like. The understanding of spiritual life as “Christian life lived with a certain intensity and thoroughness,” the way the author defines it (x), is not readily available to the generation referred to as “dot coms”, not even to their elder brothers and sisters. In this book—which could have as well been titled Spirituality Made Meaningful—the author sets out to add
color and relevance to a discipline that has become an “endangered species” in theological programs.
