Abstract

The book intends to offer a ray of hope, as a manual of information by providing useful knowledge about HIV/AIDS, its related diseases and their symptoms, and how to treat them medically and with nutrition, focusing on accessible and affordable means to handle them. Beside HIV itself, the treatment of AIDS-related diseases called opportunistic infections has also contributed to improving the health and life of people living with the disease. It aims at assisting pastoral and health care workers in developing countries to educate believers at the grassroots level to prevent the spread of the disease, to comfort and care for those already infected or affected. Its special feature can be found in the clear and direct education it offers with regard to anti-retroviral treatment. The book owes its inspiration to the author’s faith in Jesus Christ. In his ministry, Jesus never condemned, marginalized or rejected anybody but spent much of his time and energy relieving the sufferings of the sick, the hungry and the bereaved. Through his example he calls us to be agents of hope, to let ourselves be moved with pity for those who are suffering and rejected on account of HIV. It is divided into four chapters and an appendix.
