Abstract

The quest for physical healing in mainstream churches in general and the Catholic Church in particular is becoming a challenge for pastoral ministry and theologians. This is true for the majority of the faithful in Zimbabwe who seek answers for all their predicaments from the Church. Healing is not understood as just spiritual, but also physical. This creates a disconnect between what people expect and what is being offered. The Church does not seem to have adequate tools to address this insatiate desire. Pentecostals and traditional religions are bridging the gap. With the growth of the Church gravitating towards Africa, this quest can no longer be ignored. The article deliberately focuses on Zimbabwe in order to stimulate debate for the rest of Africa.
