Abstract

This article analyzes liturgy as a drive to social transformation, service of faith and promotion of justice. Focusing on the sacred liturgy, the article shows that the sacraments and particularly the Eucharist place radical demands on the people of God especially in the contemporary world of affluence for minority and abject poverty for majority. Thus, liturgy as the action of God and His people cannot
be divorced from social transformation and justice. A living liturgy mediates between martyria and diakonia.
