The Eucharistic Celebration and Our Daily Christian Living

Abstract

The theme of the Eucharistic Year, “The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of the Life and Mission of the Church,” invites us to
see the vital and necessary connection between our celebration of the Eucharist and our daily Christian living. In the Apostolic
Letter “Stay With Us Lord”1 introducing the Eucharistic Year, the Holy Father has pointed out that the Eucharist is the Principle and Plan of Mission (Section IV). In elaborating on the Eucharist as Plan the Holy Father notes that “the Eucharist not only provides the interior strength needed for this mission, but is also – in some sense – its plan. For the Eucharist is a mode of being, which passes from Christ into each Christian, through whose testimony it is meant to spread throughout society and culture.”
